Dive Masks

Clear underwater vision is the foundation of every great dive. The SALT Of The Sea Masks collection features low-volume designs engineered for freediving, spearfishing, and recreational snorkelling where optical clarity and comfort are paramount. Each mask is built with tempered glass for safety and a soft silicone skirt to ensure a leak-free seal without leaving pressure marks. Whether you are pairing your gear with our high-performance Wetsuits or essential Diving Gear, our masks provide the reliability needed to explore the ocean with total confidence.

What is this page best for?

This collection is designed for water enthusiasts looking for premium dive masks that balance technical performance with a comfortable fit. It is particularly useful for freedivers and spearfishers who require low-internal-volume masks to make equalisation easier during descents. These masks are also ideal for recreational snorkelers who want to upgrade from basic equipment to a mask that offers better visibility and a more secure, anatomical seal. If you are gearing up for a session in Spearfishing Wetsuits or exploring local reefs, you will find the right optics here.

Choosing the right thickness

While masks do not have a thickness in the same way as neoprene, the choice of mask often depends on the water conditions and your activity level. For those using 4/3mm & 5/4mm Wetsuits in colder southern waters, a mask with a high-quality silicone skirt is essential as it remains flexible and maintains a seal even in lower temperatures. Conversely, in tropical settings where you might only wear 1.5mm Wetsuits, a lightweight, streamlined mask prevents bulk and allows for maximum freedom of movement during long surface sessions.

Warmth, stretch and durability

Durability in a dive mask comes down to material choice and construction. SALT Of The Sea masks utilise tempered glass lenses, which offer superior scratch resistance and clarity compared to plastic alternatives. Our silicone skirts are designed with "stretch" in mind—conforming to various face shapes to prevent leaks while resisting the degrading effects of salt and UV exposure. To ensure your gear lasts, we recommend storing your mask in a protective case and rinsing it with fresh water after every use, similar to how you would care for Men’s Wetsuits, Women’s Wetsuits, or Kids Wetsuits.

FAQs

How do I know if a dive mask fits me properly?

To test the fit, look up and place the mask on your face without using the strap. Inhale slightly through your nose; the mask should suction to your face and stay there when you look forward. If it falls off or you feel air leaking in, the seal is not a match for your face shape.

What is a low-volume mask and why do I need one?

Low-volume masks have less air space inside. This is highly beneficial for freedivers and spearfishers because it requires less air to equalise the pressure as you dive deeper, and it makes "clearing" the mask of water much easier if it happens to leak.

How do I stop my new mask from fogging up?

New masks often have a thin film of silicone on the glass from the manufacturing process. You can gently scrub the inside of the lens with a non-gel toothpaste or a dedicated mask pre-cleaner to remove this film. Before each dive, using a small amount of anti-fog solution or "spit" will help maintain clarity.

Can I wear a mask with a snorkel for scuba diving?

Yes, all masks in this collection are suitable for scuba diving, snorkelling, and breath-hold diving. They are designed to withstand the pressure at depth while providing a wide field of view for recreational underwater exploration.
